How to write a resume?

• › First section: Experience or Projects
  • • Skip the self-summary; describe yourself with your work
• › Opening text of each job — either:
  • • a paragraph about the company (users, revenue, market position, etc.)
  • • or a bullet about your role's primary responsibility
• › Following bullets: one responsibility each
  • • Each sub-bullet: one key result, detail, or status of the parent bullet
• › Relevance decay — recent role: many bullets; older: fewer; oldest: title and dates only
• › One bullet point shouldn't have too many lines of text
• › Instead of a separate Skills section, list skills directly under the jobs and projects where you used them (colocated skills)
• › Write about your guiding principles (design, engineering, operational, etc.)
• › List your other interests; they attract the right fit naturally
• › This guide is inspired by Colin McIntosh's Reddit post
• › Below is an example of an Other Notes section (guiding principles, interests, languages, etc.)
